trumpet/candy cane "blob"

OK, my trumpets' polyps abandoned their stalks quite a while back, but I managed to "rescue" them and put them in a small breeding trap close to the lights. The clump has grown quite considerable, including quite a few new polyps, but nothing remotely stony seems to be forming. They are just a big blob of trumpet heads. I recently put some bits of rock in the breading trap to see if they'd attach, but I haven't been aggressive about tying/gluing them down (one reason is that it's hard to distinguish if there's a top or bottom!).

Any one have any advice? I just bought some gel superglue, but don't exactly know where to start.

Hopefully someone will come up with a better answer but the best I can think of is auction them on EBay as low-calcium consuming limited edition, rare trumpet corals.

Should go for at least $200 a polyp!

It is a good sign that you are getting new growth. I'm sure the skeletons will come in time. How's your CA, Alk, and MG??

I found another small piece of the candy cane at the bottom of my tank so I decided to try gluing it to a rock. It stuck. So far, so good...

I have noticed on my candy corals that when they grow large and the heads that are near the bottom or new growths are not getting enough light the highly shaded branches will drop the heads which contains a small piece of skeleton, it seems to take awhile when they drop off, its almost looks like the heads dying but it will keep its color and it almost looks like its melting off, you can glue the skeleton to something it should grow and multiply by splitting of heads and it should branch out again, just don't get glue on the fleshy part
