Hi,

I went to the lfs today and asked him what would be a good beginner coral for me, it is the trumpet coral its kind of a aqua color. I am using a t 5 strip for it with the coral being placed half way up the tank. out of direct flow. now he said this will do well like this. how long should I keep the lights on he recomended 10-14 hours I just thought I woulld jump on here and see what you all thought...............Shaun

what is your regular schedule for your lights. we have 3 different colors, green w/ 5 heads, white w/6 heads and blue too many to count. our lights are on 12 hrs. actinic and 5 hrs. MH

I wouldn't leave the lights on more than 12 hours. Do you have the strip with one switch or more than one (i.e. can you control two of the lights separately from the others)?

Hi,

I am using a cheap corallife T5 strip he knows about it he sold it to me but he did suggest another one to go along with this one. My light only has one switch in it, it is a 29 gal tank. Thanks............Shaun

Mine is doing nicely under 10-11h actinic, 6-8 daylight (aquactinics 5X54 t5HO), placed near the bottom.

I'm advancing my light cycle gradually as Algae blooms abate. As I've given him more light, he's done better. This is a 3 head frag that I got as an 'toe in the water' for LPS. One head had quite a bit of recession, and only one looked healthy. Now (maybe 6 weeks later) no recession can be seen except just at lights out when the heads deflate but before the feeder tentacles come out. I'm feeding them mysis once a week, but I wouldn't be surprised if they captured a pod or two in between feedings.

I've found that lights don't really matter for mine, whether high or low in the tank they do fine and are very hardy. At night when you see their tentacles out you can feed them shrimp and they'll eat it up, accelerating their growth.

Hi,

so should I be feeding this once in a while? if so should I be using a turkey baster? and feed it mysis, when should I feed before lights are on?, after there on? or it doesnt matter thanks.....Shaun
