TRUVU Question

This maybe a vague or weird question, but does anyone know how strong/tough/stable is a TRUVU tank? A friend of my mine sold me his TRUVU 125 gallon (72wx18dx20h) and it's problem about 5 years old. When I filled it with water and rocks what look like from a side view is that the acrylic is bent ( bowing from top to bottom). Is this normal? I will take a picture later in the afternoon.

I don't think All Truvu tanks bow. I've got one thats over 10 years old and it doesn't bow at all. Its also a large tank - 180 gallons.

All TruVu Tanks bow. They are tough tanks though.

 you couldn't be more wrong. Their standard ones made in the past did, but NON of my custom tanks ever have, nor any of the current standards I've bought. Like any company, things change. When Scott took the helm, he changed a few things around. IMO he's done a super job, and has added a bunch of new life to Tru Vu :D

If they can improve their STANDARD one that would be great. I hate the access hole of the current standard tank. They are so small.

When did this take place? All the tanks I have bow. Newest one is (2) years old.

I thought bowing also results to future tank failure like crazing would to seams of a tank.???? am I wrong here folks>

I've seen tanks bow for years w/o bursting. We had one at our old facility that was 3' tall. Thing bowed like you wouldn't belive, and was like that for 10 years and 4 set-ups. Not that I like bowing tanks, quite frankly, I hate ANY bow in a tank and do everything I can not to have that happen. I always oversize my tanks thickness to get away from that. it always reminds me of my 54g bow front and alll the visual problems that created (headaches :D )

tru vu likes to cheat ppl on tanks. i ordered their supposed "125 gallon" and it was only a 120gallons. it was 4x2x2 and they list it as 125? it wouldnt make such a big deal if there really was a 125gallon out there.

"likes to cheat people on tanks". Umm... do you really think "they" have a "master plan" for cheating. I mean, is there some dark smoky office somewhere where the powers that be get together and figgure out how to fool people on tank size? BTW, are these inner or outer dimensions?

Now i'm not coming on here defending Tru-View, however I've owned/serviced several of thier tanks. I feel they use too thin a top resulting in distortion not only to the top but to the front panel as well, as well as what Elite addressed with the limited access due to lack of top integerty. They rely too much on flame polishing, and don't use enough elbow grease in order to prevent crazing. However, they are prompt, experienced, and do have the ability to construct an excellent tank.

I'm out.L8tr

its the outter dimensions. but either way, it clearly measures out to be 120, if i wanted a 125, i'd have gotten the 6 footer. and yea, maybe i do think they have a master plan.
