Tube Anemone Help/Question

Hey guys,

I was out on our boat today and stopped at this little island. It was low tide so i was looking around for some critters like hermys and snails and stuff. I then found a little area that had tube anemones. They are Orange color. I really want one.

A few questions.

Will it eat my fish? I have a yellow watchmen goby, Spot dragonnet, diamond goby, 2 clowns, and a posseum wrasse. Also I have a cleaner and a blood shrimp also.

Also, my sand bed is like 1/2inch deep. I really want one of these but don't think my sand bed is deep enough. Is there anything I could do to be able to keep one in the depth of my sand bed? Do they have to be in a sandbed?

I could be mistaken, but I thought it was illegal to collect wild corals/anemones in florida. If so, you are asking people to help you commit a crime.

I've got two tube anemones in my tank. It is a misconception that they eat fish. They are fillter feeders. If you actually try to feed them something meaty they will close up. There is a goo reefkeeping article on the that goes into detail on them.

Aside from it maybe or not maybe not being a crime to collect them in florida, they look amazing under lighting.

Im not sure about the legal part of collecting so i wont comment on that but tube nems need a deep sand bed, usually around 6in, and yes they DO need the sandbed. Ive seen people that put them in PVC pipes, Vases and such to accommodate the nem since they didn't have deep sand beds

I have 2 Tube Nems and neither are embedded in the sand, theyre in my rock work. Ive had them for years. My fish and inverts know to stay away. Tube nems are truly underrated.
