Hiya

We just installed a new 1073.11 on a new build but finding it quite noisy and vibrates.

Do these take time to wear in or are we looking at a bigger issue?

We switched to the Tunze silence pro as the client requested low to no noise but its much louder than the wavemaker that was fitted prior.

any help would be appreciated.

Noise issues are always the worst to diagnose.

1) Is it really too noisy? A return pump doing 2900 gph will never be as quiet as a smaller 1000 gph return pump or a 3000 gph propeller pump, to generate the flow and head pressure their is necessarily a larger moving mass and more noise. So to start I would ask is it noisier than a comparable pump like Mag Drive 24 which is even still a bit smaller.

2) Yes, the most likely issue is trapped air and after a week or two most of this will be gone.

3) Avoid any hard surface to hard surface contact, using short lengths of tubing to connect to pipe and making sure the pump is on the included rubber feet and making no hard surface contact goes a long way to reducing noise.

4) Avoid any excessive restriction, contrary to popular belief, 2 * 3/4" lines does not equal 1 1.5" line, it is actually closer to 4 1" lines in the flow it can handle. While restrictions actually reduce the wattage of the pump, they do tend to lead to noise from trapped air that cannot as easily escape and greatly reduce the performance of the pump. I would not reduce a 1073.110 to anything less than 3 1" lines.

Hi

1) yep the pipe vibrates also

2) hope so, as the waterblaster is a lot quieter.

3) its sitting on the sump floor with the silncing feet

4)its running on a 1" line its impossible to add omore returns as its a 100g tank with a basement sump 11' head

Hope that helps

I would use the nipples to attach some flexible tubing, between the rigid pipe connections. The reduction to 1" is substantial and will reduce the performance of the pump and also result in a longer delay for trapped air to purge. I think the main issue is trapped air, if today it is even a little quieter, I can be sure that is the cause.
