Tunze 6040 ETA

No news yet, I know they were very resistant to the idea of such a limited release but it may happen if more boards are not ready in time. The main issue was the first run of controller housings just were not good enough, their were still marks from where the mold was made with the milling machine and they wanted these polished out of the mold. I will check on it next week and see where they are at.

Any more updates? It's been a week since you last replied. All information/news is welcomed. Just wondering when I am gonna be putting this thing on my tank

The last news I got was a modest size batch will be made in the next couple of weeks, we will get enough or close to enough to fill all existing preorders but their won't be any stock or ready availability until mid to late October.

So, today we had some progress-

1st, the 8850 LED's and 0220.015 Care Magnets are on the way to us

2nd, the 6040's and 9012 skimmers started production today, hopefully next week we will have some leaving Germany for us and they will arrive the following week.

I have the Tunze 6208 wave box sitting waiting for DSA 105 new tank to be delivered later this week. I am thinking of getting the 6040 to go with it. From what I have read the 7092 controler will run the 6040. So I am assuming they wave box and the 6040 will both run of the 7092 and work together. Would I be assuming correctly?
Would it just be pretty much plug and play and do you still use the controler that comes with 6040 in conjunction with the 7092?

All this would do is give you a bigger wave since the 7092 can only run one program and the 6208 needs it to be in wavemode. The 6040 will include its own controller and would be best used stand alone on its own controller.

Roger,

Going to the CMAC Conference in Connecticut on Oct 18th. Will Tunze have a booth there and will there be any 6040 available?. I actually don't need the 7090 controller. Can I buy the 6040 without the controller? I have a 7092 running a 6095 in wave mode in one corner and a 6020 in the other corner. The 6095 is a tad too much for my 40 breeder SPS/LPS mixed reef. I have the 12 volt jumper on the power supply and the LPS two feet away are being blown around just a little too much. The SPS are placed near the 6095 so they get great flow. I think a 6040 would be a great compact pump for my set up. putting out about the same as the 6095 with the 12 volt jumper. I abandoned Vortechs a few years ago and went back to Tunze and never looked back.

He could open the 7092 controller and put the jumper on interval and see how it works. The only issue I know of is if he's using a night sensor both pumps would completely shut off in night mode where they would kick down to speed one if pulse is set to over 2 seconds on non-wave mode. I had several 7092 controllers so I know how they work pretty well.

I do plan to use the night sensor on the wave box so will just run the wave box on it own. Will be running a 3rd pump also of another brand that is over priced and louder.
I actually have a DSA 105 NEO tank that I had the over flow moved to one end with enough room to put the wave box beside and lowered the over flow 1" so I can run nice sized waves with out worry of spill over.

The controller is built in, it replaces the little black box at the end of the cord so it is part of the pump, it can do more than the 7092 as adding a moonlight and bridging multiple pumps to work together are also options. We won't have one at CMAC.

How would I connect my 7092 controller to a 6040? Not interested in the other features, I'm happy with the way the 7092 runs, especially the night sensor.

The attached 7090 can be bypassed and the 7092 plugged into a port on top. I think you will find once you have it though that the 7090 is far more impressive, you can do even more and the mounting bracket and everything that it can do is a huge improvement over the old way, a night sensor with moonlight is an option and you can network several pumps and the end result is almost the functionality of a 7095.

OK, then a night sensor is available with a moonlight. Do you think a 6040 & a 6020 would be enough flow for a SPS, LPS mixed reef where I have a 6095 with the 12v jumper in and it's almost too much? Thanks for answering all my questions.

How big is the tank? The 6040 flow is roughly equal at full power to the 6095 at only 12V and 100%. A 6020 is half that again and is non controllable.

I have to apologize to those following this thread, it looks like the first week of November is when we will see the first 6040's.
