Tunze 6060 stopping intermittantly

Roger,
I bought a used Tunze 6060 about 3 months ago. I was told it was about 3 years old when I bought it. About a month after I bought it I noticed that the 6060 was stopping for no apparent reason. Initially I thought maybe because it was used it may have had calcium buildup on the impeller and soaked it in vinegar, but it happened again after a few days. I have noticed that if I unplug the pump for an hour or two it would restart without any problems. I spoke to the person I bought it from and he said he never had any problems though he had put it on a timer. I have since put it on a timer to go on when the actinics go on and off when they go off. I haven't noticed a problem since I did this. Any idea what could be the problem? Is it the impeller or the motor? I did not take the impellar off, do you think something could be stuck in the impellar housing? TIA

It sounds like it is overheating, please see th thread at the top of the forum on cleaning, eventuallly the motor will be destroyed by this but it is likely just not being cleaned completely, pay attention specifically to the upper bearing and the hole in the center of the magnet.
