Tunze 6100 Questions

I recently purchased a 6100 with the 7091 single controller. I have several questions about the pump and controller. I have read through the manuals, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot my questions.

First, the 6100 does not feel as strong as the 6080 I am currently using. The transformer I have is a 7240.27 with the 6100.10 motor. Is this the correct transformer?

Second, the controller looks to be working (all LEDs work, it switches between outputs, etc.). If the food timer button is pressed, the pump does shut off and then on again once it has timed out.

When I place the controller in pulse mode, it does not feel like the pump changes speed. Is this related to my first question? Or is there something else I need to look at?

Also, does the controller need the photocell to operate in pulse mode?

Icashman,

It is diffuclt to feel the difference if you are using your hand, also if you are pulsing quickly it may seem like less flow. The parts you mention are correct.
Maybe you need another 6100

Will be in Brisbane for a week....don't know how close that is to perth.

About the pulsing, I had it set to max (~5 sec) and could not feel or see a difference in the tank.
What would be the best way to check the pulsing operation?

The pulse is pretty quick but I guess you could try putting the 6100 closer to the surface to see some difference.
To compare better you could try running the 6100 with out the 7091 controller.
The photo cell is not required if used this will run the pump at the lowest controller setting at night.

Just to clarify, both the 6000 and 6100 use motor 6100.10 and driver 7240.27, the transformer is the hockey puck, a 6100 is 7410.602 and a 6000 is 7210.202. A 6000 would definitely feel like less than a 6100, double check this.

I have a 6000 (transformer was 7210.202).

About the pulsing question....I took the 6000 out of the tank and changed the settings in a tub. I guess I didn't have the settings between 1 and 2 far enough apart to tell the difference.
Everything is working great!

One other question...is the transformer the only difference between the 6000 and the 6100? The reason I'm asking is that if I were to buy a different transfer, then I could get more flow. Just curious.
