Tunze 7096-NO DEVICE FOUND

Hi,

I just ran the CD that came with the controller and when I click on the desktop icon it says "No Device Found."

After trying several times according to the instructions I did some online research and found a couple of tips but end up with same result...it just doesn't recognize the controller.

Any suggestions?

Many thaNKS.

Which operating system are you using? The most important if this is a Windows system is that the associated USB port is assigned to either COM1, COM2 or COM3, the program only checks for the controller on these 3 COM ports. You may have to manually reassign the port and when you do you want to set flow control to X on/X off.

Hi guys,
I had this same problem with mine over here in Oz,
All you need to do is load the avrootloader program, found in c:/tunze/multicontroller 7096.
Then choose connect to device. Once connected chose the drop down box beside flash and choose tunze 7096.acy
Then down the bottom left hit program.
You should get a flash succesful message
Start up your 7096 program from the desktop shortcut, you will see a black box appear and then all done fixed.

My 7096 problem is once I click "connect device" I get the "no device" or "no unit" at the bottom of the page.

Regarding manually changing the ccom routing, where in the Windows 7 control panel can I do that?

Thanks for any help out there.

Hi Biscayne,

Before we proceed with trying to change COM numbers, let's try running the program in Compatibility Mode. Right click on the program and select Properties. From there select the Compatibility tab and choose to run the program under one of the Vista modes. If that doesn't fix it then proceed below to change COM settings.

First open up the Control Panel and from there select the System and Security category. Towards the bottom of the list that appears you should see Device Manager. Click on Device Manager and a new window will open up. Look down the list for the Ports (COM&LPT) option and click the + sign to expand the list. If there is a Generic Device listed, right click on that and select Properties. (If there is not a Generic Device listed, then expand the Universal Serial Bus further down the list and see if you can find it there. If you do, right click and select Properties.)

Now choose the Port Settings tab and from there click Advanced. At the top of the new window you will be able to select a new Com Port Number. Assign it either 1, 2 or 3. Then click OK to exit that window. (Windows 7 should automatically register the change, but you may need to hit Refresh Devices or Scan for New Hardware from the Action menu above.)

Then try running the program again. If it still does not find the device, try restarting the computer and trying again.

Finally, if we still aren't having any luck, try updating the 7096 firmware. First uninstall the existing version of the 7096 software and then go to this page and download the software. When you run the program, you need to have the 7096 connected. This will update the firmware on the 7096. Please be patient and wait for this process to finish... otherwise the unit can be damaged. After this has completed, try running the newly installed software.

Let me know how it goes...

Now that is what I call a nicely detailed reply. Thanks, Craig. I'll try them after I get back from work. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the input. I really appreciate.

Just finished each of the detailed steps you provided, and unfortunately it's a no go. It still doesn't recognize the unit. I'm afraid this is going back to the seller. But thanks for your time trying to help, Craig.

What version of the program are you using???Are you using the updated version? of the 7096??? http://www.tunze.com/software-download.html?&L=1&C=AU

The seller you baught it off, might have installed the updated version to the controller. And the cd installation that comes with it is most likely the older software of the 7096. Once you install the updated version to the controller , the older software of the controller on the cd wont be compatibile with the controller no more. So you must use the updated version

Success! Device Found.

Even after changing the Port settings and re-booting, it didn't recognize the device. I was ready to hang it up and thought, what's one more try. I re-set the Port settings to the default and re-booted again. Nothing. So I removed the file and downloaded the 7096update a second time and voila! Device found. Update successful. Don't ask me why it worked this time because I don't know.

Happy New Year!

That's great to hear! Windows can be strange like that sometimes, especially dealing with the 64-bit version. I'm glad it's working for you now.

Happy New Year!
