Hello!

I have a 9002 on a PicO Aquariums Pico III. I did the "air line" mod and I just undid that last week because I couldn't seem to get it to work well.

I then put everything back to factory, plug in the skimmer, ran it for a few minutes and then opened the air intake. I was able to get the skimmer to work awesome for a couple days, but the air intake was INSANELY loud! But the skimmer was working awesome. The water level was right at the water line.

Today I am trying to quite the skimmer down, which I've done by shortening the air tube inside the skimmer. However, now I can not get the bubble column to raise more than 1/8-1/4 up.

I bought this skimmer new about 2 months ago and it has proved maddening to this point.

Please. Please; I beg someone to help restore my sanity!

Regard the marked water line as the maximum, the noise is likely water that is getting sucked into the air intake, the skimmer should be raised a bit, the ideal is generally that the marked line is 1/4- 1/2" above the actual water line. To get the water out of the airline you can do one of two things, it will gurgle until this is all out.

1) Disassemble the skimmer and drain the airline- sure and immediate cure provided it is not again submerged too deep.

2) Unplug the skimmer, close the airscrew completely, plug it back in, wait a few seconds and slowly start opening the screw. This will purge most of it out, some popping and gurgling will persist for 3-7 days.
