Where can I find a new one? The magnet got chipped off somehow and it doesn't work very well. Should I replace the impeller or the whole pump?

please advise as I need this ASAP!

I would just replace the impeller but a small chip shouldn't be an issue, it may just be that the chipped piece of magnet is stuck in the pump and causing the problem. You can order this impeller on tunze.com part 0800.042, they cost about $8

its actually a pretty big chip and when it was working before it was pumping well but now the bubbles don't even reach the cup. So I ordered one and hope this does the trick.

thanks

so I just got the part. thanks for the quick shipping. And I was wondering if I am using the skimmer correctly. Right now it seems I am getting bubbles halfway with the screw loosened almost all the way. It just won't seem to fill the whole tube in the collection cup to produce skimmate. I was wondering if this is just the break-in period? What else can I do. I have the water level about perfect to where the line should be. please advise.

it is making a lot of noise right now, perculating (i think thats how you spell it as the valve is wide open i think).

Raise the skimmer so the water line is about 1/2" above the water. American 60Hz versions of the pump are stronger and the skimmer needs to be out of the water further for it to work right. Restart the skimmer with screw completely closed. The noise is coming from water in the air intake line and starting with the screw closed and slowly opening it after the pump is running will get most of it out but it will probably continue to make some noise for a few days until all the water is purged out.

ok i think its beginning to work now...but I keep on getting full cups of water!!! How do I make it so its like perfect where I get good skimmate? So should the bubbles be near the top of the overflow tube in the cup? or halfway? or does it just build up and build up and then overflow? Hope you can understand what I'm saying. Thanks for taking the time to answer me.

Close the air screw, it should take several hours for foam to build up and enter the cup. I would close the screw 1/4 turn every day until you get a skimmate that looks like tea.

you mean open it 1/4 every day? not close it right. So start with it closed all the way then slowly open the screw?

thanks

If you are getting water in the cup you need to slowly close it to restrict airflow until you get the right amount of air flow to skim a dark liquid.
