I just got this skimmer new. i can't get the thing to produce bubbles at all. i tried moving the thing up and down and adjust the screw back and forth with no result. i notice water coming thru the airline. on my sapphire aquatics skimmer when this happen it wouldn't work also. all i had to do to that one is rise it out of the wter while running and it would stop. i tried that with the tunze but water keeps running thru it. i even tried removing the tube and blowing thru it to make sure all the water was out of it. . did i get a bad one btw its not making any noise at all. also where can i buy the magnet mount for it. i tried searching premium aquatics and marine depot but didn't find it thanks

The venturi is faulty, PM me your address and I will send a new one. It is very easy to change and the venturi has to be pretty exact, if it has a scratch or blemish it will do exactly what you describe.

i received my parts yesterday. connected it and now the skimmer is working great. i always heard about tunze's great custumer service but this is my first experience. A+++ to roger and crew thanks alot.

I am having a similiar problem with my new Tunze 9002 but I am not sure if it is the exact problem. I just got my Tunze 9002 yesterday and it is running, but I am not producing bubbles and barely see water movement inside the skimmer. At first, I wasn't sure the pump was even running so I disassembled it and verify the pump is in fact working. I made sure there was no kinks in the the air line. I just can get this thing to move water, any other suggestions? I just bought this and it does have the magnet mount on it if that helps. I have my water level right on the marking of the skimmer. Any other ideas on what the problem may be? Also, I just installed it in my tank 24 hours ago and tank has been running since January. I am not expecting foam to collect in the cup right away but I do not see any water movement down in the skimmer, that is what concerns me. Thanks, Joe

I got the skimmer working, I must have had a small kink or a large bend in the line because it wasn't sucking air before. Now after I disassembled/reassembled it, it is working. I am not just breaking it in and trying to get the foam correct. Thanks, Joe

I'm Having the same problem

I'm Having the same problem

I plugged mine in last night and set it up accordingly.. I did notice then that there was no bubbles or turbulence inside the chamber when it is at the proper water level. I read this thread this morning and disassembled it hoping the hose was kinked. When I placed the pump and the venturi in the water by itself, the hose is just filling up with water... is there something I can do to fix the venturi myself?? Thanks

Jon

No, you need a new one, venturis are a fairly precise instrument and a minor scratch or defect renders them useless. PM me your address and name and we will get one in the mail right away.

I just bought a Nano DOC Skimmer 9002 and installed it about 2 days ago... When I first put it in my tank, there wasn't a single bubble being produced by the skimmer. I tried playing with the water level a bit, adjusting the valve, etc... No effect. I just figured that I would have to wait a day or two for the skimmer to kick in.

Just now I disassembled the skimmer and made sure there weren't any kinks and that everything was connected. I tried it again... still not a single bubble being produced. It has been over 48 hours that the skimmer has been running and no foam is being produced, no bubbles, etc.

Do I need to wait longer? Get a replacement part for something?

I'm having the same issue, is it a possible we all get the bad batch? I have the 9015 on my 120 and it is working flawless.

jc9394, it is, we did have some bad venturis. But what you describe didn't sound like a bad venturi since you get bubbles but maybe I didn't understand your description. Venturis are extremely precise and if they even get a scratch on them they don't work or work poorly. If you PM me your address we will send one.
