Tunze 9005 or a 9002 with reef pack

Heres what I have, a 46 gallon bow front, with a tunze 9005, power heads and a magnum for carbon only, current t5 light fixture, mixed softies. I would like to raise the water level in the tank, but the 9005 collection cup hits the lights I have. So far I havent found a way to safely raise the lights to make this happen. I was looking at the 9002 reefpak and it looks like its small enough to go behind the lights but is it to small for the tank?

It is not nearly as strong as the 9005. What light do you have? Maybe we can find a way to raise it?

What I have is the current 4x39 watt t5 fixture. I believe its the nova extreme. I only need to raise it about an inch to get what I need. There doesnt seem to be a after market kit to raise it, and I havent come up with any ideas on how to raise it.

I'm still looking into rasing my lights, but was wondering if I keep the 9005, would adding a nano reef filter to what I have would be a good thing. I would like to have some surface skimming, but do want the hassel fo a sump or wet dry. I do however think somesort of a water top off systme would be needed with the filter as I here that if the water drops down it blows bubbles.

This is true, probably your best solution is to get either the Eheim or Hagen surface extractor for your magnum filter.

I use a 9005 internally in my tank with no surface skimming or mechanical filtration. I had the Nano Reefpack originally but the tank has become an SPS system so I needed a more powerful skimmer. I kept the Nano Cleaner in there for a while but decided it took up too much space. I am not a big fan of mech filtration anyway, and a little ozone goes a long way in keeping the water crystal clear, no need for carbon. The surface looks like a jacuzzi thanks to my two 6055s so there is no chance for film to build up.
