Please excuse my ignorance but what makes the tunze so great? I can see that there are alot of tunze junkies and i was wondering why. I'm looking for a more natural wavemaking method for my 37 gal. and am considering tunze. can you help me with this decision?

Their are probably a lot of reasons, to this day Tunze remains a small family owned company and our products are largely hand made in Germany. This is a big difference from mass market companies most of whom, regardless of corporate office location make everything in China. We are all hobbyists and we were founded by a hobbyist who really just built toys for himself and his attitude was if you wanted one great, if you didn't too bad. Things have changed over 40 years and we try to be a bit more consumer oriented but our basic philosophy of design hasn't changed from making real innovations with practical and specific applications.

Tell me more about your tank and I can help with a recommendation. I need dimensions, inhabitants and type of sand bed.

In addition to quality, effectiveness, efficiencey and outstanding customer service - the absolute bottom line for me is the low watts and low heat, in general, for all Tunze equipment.

I'v used Tunze for many years - its excellent.

I found an old Tunze leaflet in a box the other day circa 1980 - on rereading the description of the 'system' range - its al currently accurate knowledge.

These products go on and on and are well thought through for maintenance and ease of access and with some imagination can be tweaked.

For example - with energy costs in mind - I've just added a sereis of computer fans to system bio modules to get evaporative cooling - works a treat - much cheaper and smaller than the deltec equivalent. the media is CAG to provide a more gentle use of this media

On skimmers - have started with tunze - moved to deltec and now back to tunze with an additional mod - because it just keeps on chugging along without the need for constant tweaking of air and water levels. With the mod it takes out dark skimmate too.

The streams with controller are unparalelled in versatility and power.

The autotop up devises are the biz.

The quick change mech filter is so easy - I actually change the mech media frequently and keep the orp up - no drips all over the floor - and very quick to do.

I use other brands to for different things - but Tunze has some great products.

Owning a Tunze is like owning a Porsche.
Exhilarating but expensive.

and worth it if you can afford it.
