Tunze Calcium Dispenser 5074 or Kalk reactor with my 3155?

I got a 3155 and it rocks. I'm very impressed.

I have a 56g tank, but total water volume is about 60g - 65g including the sump. I'm keeping mostly SPS, a few LPS and a good deal of Clams and intend to add more sps and clams in the next few weeks.

My RO reservoir is an 18gal tall hexagonal AGA. Will my 3155 be better off with a Calcium dispenser 5074 or kalk reactor in the long run?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you can rely on kalkwasser as a sole calcium supplement in any tank that has more than a few soft corals and some coralline algae. The kalk reactors with stirrers are definitely stronger but my preferece would be to have a calcium reactor and the calcium dispenser and to only rely on the calcium dispenser to boost the alkalinity and stabilize the pH and help control phosphate and let the reactor do most of the calcium supplementation.

Thanks for the reply. I had a hunch you might say that I need a calcium reactor.

I like the idea of the dispenser supplementing pH. As for phosphates control, I have a p04 reactor.

Can you recommend a calcium reactor for me?

There are a lof of good ones and the general prinicpal is the same for all of them. It largely depends on whether you want a stand alone unit or in sump.

Thanks Roger, I'll ask around. I want an insump unit. Will get the Dispenser 5074 too as I don't have much room for anything else.
