Tunze cleaning magnet leaks?

Roger, I recently purchased a Tunze cleaning magnet, and the portion that goes into the tank obviously fills with water when submerged. What I don't know is if that is by design or if it flawed. Looking at the magnet, it looks like it is deliberately vented at each corner. I don't mind that it leaks, as it drains quickly when I remove it, but I wanted to make sure that it is not defective, and does not leach metals into the tank when it does so!
thanks in advance for your help,
Mike

BTW, I've had a Tunze comline 3130 on my new 30 gal cube for about 6 weeks, and am very impressed with this skimmer (I use euroreef and lifereef on the big tank). With the ease of use, consistent production, and extremely low power consumption, I'm surprised we don't hear more about these skimmers.

The magnet is normal. Inside the actual magnet is cast in resin just like a powerheads internals. It is completely waterproof. Their is a small amount of void space between the resin and the housing on the smaller models.

I forgot to say thanks for your comments on the skimmers. I wholeheartedly agree and for most applications they are all I would use. The skimmer market is so flooded though and certainly more powerful models exist. I like the quietness, ease of use and low power consumption. I also really like that every day it tends to do the same thing- never foams over, never just sits there. Thanks!

Thanks Roger - I suspected as much, but I'm a worrier, and I can now put that worry aside!
Regards, Mike
