Tunze DOC 9011 Troubleshooting

Hi Roger,

My Tunze 9011 has been vacationing in my sump for a good while now, and I need to figure out how to get it back in line. Normally when it stopped working, I would dis/reassemble it. Usually that will work until I have to clean it (unplug it). At that point it will not work until I disassemble it again (all the way down to the propeller.

When I say it is not working, I feel like the pump itself is engaging backwards, it just never kicks off.

I know it's an older model, but this thing was a beast when functioning properly. With your help I'd like to get it back to that.

Any known issues I may have missed, or other suggestions? Please advise, and thanks for your time.

If it spins backwards, the braking system is likely the issue assuming it is a 9010.040 pump. A new 3000.600 drive unit is then what you need to fix it up, they are about $30 on Tunze.com.

Thanks.

Maybe I just misessembled it? When you say braking system, are you referring to the plastic casing around the drive unit that pops out when turned into reverse?

Correct, the 2 brake shoes that engage on the collar at the top of the hole. It could be, if the bottom bearing or oring were inverted or a part was missing, that can also be a cause, the oring goes at the very bottom, the bearing 3000.610 sits on top of it, the magnet sits on that.
