I have a 28 gallon going to be a Mantis tank.

Are these pretty decent skimmers? I love the super small footprint.

All the other HOB skimmers i have used are junk. remora/seaclone.

I have a super small sump and this would be the only one i could actuall fit in it! unless i did HOB.

So, how would this compare to a Finnex skimmer?

The Tunze is $150+shipping and the finnex is about $40-$50 shipped whenever you can find one. I havnt had much luck

If your talking about the 9002 i'd pass, but the 9005 and 9010 are good skimmers for there size.

Yeah i was talking about the 9002 and the other 2 you mentioned are way out of what i want to spend on a skimmer right now. Even the 9002 was at the very upper end of what i want/would pay!

Its just for a 28 gallon so i don't need a huge expensive skimmer just some that will do a good job and has a good price.

I don't mind buying used at all

Is there a really small recirc skimmer? small footprint, small price and small to skim a 28 gallon with 5.5 gallon sump

Some of these HOB skimmers are just ridiculous price wise. I paid $285 shipped for my Das EX1 skimmer for my 60cube and i highly doubt there is a HOB that can touch it. But there are some HOB that cost more than that, that just isn't right!

The only recirc's i know that aren't to bad pricewise would be the ps120 external by octo. It would work and has a small footprint. I'd still go with an octo hot for 100bux though in your situation.

Luke,

Ok i am leaning toward the Octopus HOT. I have browsed through that huge thread.

The internal pump model seems like a better skimmer from my readings?

SHould i wait and get that one since every place i ahve checked it is out of stock or get the regular one? I just hate having big pumps hanging in tank and the internal doesnt seem to have that.

Is the pump very big for the external model and how does it look?
