Tunze Nano 9002 in a BC29

Hey guys.... I just wanted to let everyone on here know that the Tunze Nano skimmer will fit in the second chamber of the BC29 if you do some slight "clearancing" The base of the skimmer fits fine, but the cup wouldnt fit all the way down, or out of the back of the hood. I grabbed my trusty dremel with the sanding drum bit and did some slight clearancing on the tank and hood, and VIOLA, fits like a glove. Heres some pics......

Doing this did nothing to the structural integrity in any way that I can tell, its just a touch off in a few spots... the wall doesnt flex more or anything like that.....

What do you guys think ?!?!?

I have the exact same tank and was wondering about the exact same thing.

The only catch is I set mine up with the bio-balls in it. I am not sure what kind of affects taking my bio-balls out would have on the tank since it is already going.

Based upon some people's feelings regarding bio-balls it does not sound like it would hurt me much to do it. Maybe just have to pay attention to the water a bit more while it adjusts to having a skimmer.

Ha! I did the same thing about two months ago! I beat you! Yes, I rule! Jusk kidden. Great mind think alike. But I gutted the complete back and put the reefpack mechanical filter in there as well.

I saw your posts earlier, and it is a great mod, I just didnt want to gut the entire back of the tank..... just some slight clearancing is all that was needed.

I wouldn't pull out the bioballs all at once. They are a big part of your biological filtration now. You will re-cycle your tank (at least to some extent). I would take them out a few at a time over the course of a couple of weeks. Just my opinion.
