think i am going to buy some type of auto top off system. Seems the Osmolator comes most highly recomended. I am also adding kalk to the top off water right now and useing a drip bottle. kinda pain in the butt.

my question is this . do i buy the Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155 and just run a line to a 30 gal trash can in the basment were i have pre mixed kalk water or do i buy the Tunze Osmolator Calcium Dispenser 5074 ?

i am not really sure how the Tunze Osmolator Calcium Dispenser works . few questions i guess . does it still come with two sensors for your tank, high and low ? what is the clear bottle on the side of the bucket for ? whats the difference between this and hooking the other one up to a bucket of kalk water ?

is the pump on these strong enough to take water from my basement to the first floor if i drilled a hole in floor ?

thanks

The osmolator calcium dispenser comes with 2 sensors. The clear bottle is the kalk reactor, you place the kalk in the bottle and the water is pumped through it to the tank. The kalk with quickly kill the pump if you run it in kalkwasser for any period of time. I don't think the pump that comes with the kit has enough umph to pump at that head pressure. You might be able to rig something up though, Roger would know for sure.

The osmolator can only pump up 9ft. If the reservoir was elevated so the height to the ground floor was not so high this could work. If you use the pump in kalkwasser this can work but the pump life will be short and it has no warranty if used this way ($18 pump cost every 6-9 months most likely) The dispenser is a simplified reactor and keeps the pump seperate from the kalk and best of all keeps the kalk from contacting air where it reacts with CO2 and loses potency.
