My optical sensor is somewhat of a PITA. I have to take the sensor out of my sump and rub it off every couple of days with my finger or else it will stop functioning and think the water level is steady even when the actual level is droping. Anyone else have this problem? The sensor is not exposed to light, I dose kalk but only the recommended amount. I'm not sure what is coating the sensor.

Thanks,
Kyle

I really wouldn't have an answer but you might try giving it a good soak in vinegar, this shouldn't happen but if you are dosing kalk near the sensor it is possible as kalk forms a skin of calcium carbonate from reacting with the air.

I'm dosing on the other end of my sump from my sensor, and I have soaked it in vinegar this does not help it is as if I had just wiped it off with my finger. Is is possible that my sensor is dying? Can I buy another one?

It could be, it can be replaced but it is hardwired and 4 very small wires must be soldered, it would need to be sent in for the sensor replacement.

I can solder, can you PM me how much it would cost to have it sent in and replaced? Also what is the length of the warranty on this product?

It has a 2year warranty, for warranty coverage it definitely has to come in, I cannot give out the part under warranty, I have to replace it and file a report on my findings. The part is $29.05. I would really recommend sending it in unless you have a lot of experience, the wires are like the size of coarse hair and you will need a very hot needle tip iron so you can work fast and not damge surrounding components. I use a Hakko 936 with a 1mm tip set to 750 degrees.

I'll send it in I bought it less than 2 years ago. I just need to figure out who I ordered it from or find the invoice.

Send it to
