I'm considering replacing powerheads with a tunze system. If I can get away with just one pump, it would be great. I use hydor koralias right now, but I think my corals would benefit from some more nonlinear flow.
Tank is 48 x 18 x 24 high. It is mostly LPS with a couple hearty SPS (Turbinaria sp.) I have a few that like lower flow. The only other flow would be my return pump, which is about 400 gph coming through 3/4" lock line. (I am also plumbed for a closed loop, which I would like to simply stop using.)
Could I get by with just one 6101? Or is this too much flow? Or would two smaller pumps be better? Also, I'm a bit confused about my control options, and the difference between the single and multi-controller. It looks as though you have to go up to the 6101 to get the maximum controlling options. With just one pump, would I get added benefit (other than the moonlight, which is kind of cool) out of the 7095 over the single controller?
As noted, just one pump in the tank would be ideal. Any recommendations much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
