Tunze Stream 6060 Placement

I purchased a Tunze Stream 6060 for my 54 gallon corner bowfront tank. The LR is mounded in the center in a "coral head" formation. I have 1" of sand on the bottom. Skimming is provided by a Remora HOT as shown in the photo. The Tunze will be my only pump/powerhead.

I am interested in the proper placement of the pump for optimal diffuse water movement without blowing the sandbed around. My initial thought is to mount the Stream at the junction of the two back panels near the top of the tank with the flow directed forward toward the bowfront glass.

Do you have any other suggestions on the best mounting position for a Stream 6060 in a 54 corner tank?

Thanks for the quick response, Roger. I haven't received the pump yet, so I am unfamiliar with the mounting hardware. Does it allow direct corner mounting, or will I need to mount it on a flat back panel and angle it toward the front?

It might, honestly I can't tell from the pic how fine the sand is- sugar sand?, aragonite sand?

The sand is medium-sized aragonite. I guess I could pull most of it out and replace it with crushed coral if the sand blows around too much. I'm sick of multiple ugly powerheads in a tank and still not enough water movement, so I'll do what it takes to make the Stream work.

I just checked the shipping info on my Stream, and it hasn't been shipped yet (Marine Depot.)

Roger, do you think that a Turbelle 3000/2 powerhead would be a better pump for my 54 corner with medium-grain sand? I believe I can change my order if necessary. I know the Turbelle water velocity is higher, and the stream is narrower, so it may not be better, but I'd like your opinion.

What corals will you keep? I get more 6060 next week, over a hundred of them so their shouldn't be any backorder issues once those arrive.

I am in a rural area. I don't have a good source of SPS within 200 miles, so I'm planning on clams, LPS and softies, as well as a few mild-mannered fish.

I cancelled the 606 order until I can figure out what to do. It was on back-order anyway.

My honest opinion is that your ideal pump would be a 7400/2. It would definitely cost more but you could then turn it down if it was too much and you would have your one pump to handle all your flow needs.

Thanks, Roger. I'll look into it. Hopefully, it will be available. It must be a nice problem to have products so popular that you can't keep up with demand.

Most products we are doing pretty good on right now. Magnet holder and skimmers should be stock after next week and 6060 and 6080 as well. 7400/2 I have plenty of. The only shortages now are 6000 and 6200 for the most part. This time around I have to say it is largely my fault, a large order I placed over a month ago didn't get through and I didn't catch on until a few weeks ago after noticing none of my current order was filled.
