Tunze Stream for 100 gal

Do they make a tunzestream powerhead that will not be too strong for my 100 gal reef? I have sugarfine aragonite, and I want to make sure it's not going to get kicked all over.

Thank you.

Also, how would the pump attach to the tank.. because I have acrylic with a lip long the top of the tank.

Would models 6000 or 6060 work for my tank? If so which would be better, and should I only need one in a tank my size?

The tank dimensions are: 60x18x20 (100 gal long)

Thanks

I have 2 6000's on my 110 gal. I also use Southdown sand with little problems with it being blown around. You just have to place the stream/streams high in the tank which I believe is recommended anyways. It takes a few days for the sand to find its happy place and then you don't have any problems with it moving around at all. I have the 2 6000's on my tank but it is going to be a primarily SPS tank. So you could do one and be fine with a mixed tank.

Any pictures of your tank with the streams?

About the sand - i am concerned that even though it may settle... it may settle in a way that doesn't look right ;/

For cheaper than adding a stream, I could have 3 maxijets on a wavemaker... however, I am willing to get the stream if it really does push current in areas of the tank that the maxi jets wouldn't. Do the Streams actually blow downward and even behind themselves?

Another concern is that I have an acrylic tank with nearly a 4 in. lip on the top of it. I really wouldn't want the TS sitting that far off the wall of the tank - hovering .. ugly. I saw a mounting kit that puts it back against the tank wall, but will one of those work with a 4 in. lip?

Thanks!

Jon,

You can use the kit 3000.26 to fashion a bracket which will go under the brace and then down against the pane. Up to 5.5" is no problem with this bracket. You will need a hacksaw and a screwdriver to assemble the kit.

2 6000's would be right. Eventually the surface sand will get compacted and laden with bio film and not move so easily but at first you may have some issues with the sand bed. The 6000's are preferred because you can slow them down if needed and the 6060 cannot be used on a wavemaker so you will have a static flow.

Do those magnetic holders work well to hold the pump to the side of the tank? Cant I just use an old algae magnet the same?

The magnet holders are very strong and they have a design that is very stable, you would spend much more to get a cleaning magnet that was as stable and the pump would stick out further.

6000's would work or( I dare say) you could get the Seio pumps. There's a 620 and an 820gph model. Just a suggestion.

Anyone compare the quality of the Seio's to the T. Streams? Lets here Roger's take on it :).

There is a HUGE price difference I'm seeing. The TS's look higher output, and a little nicer in color. But WOW thats a big price difference.

I can tell you my experience. I have had both seios and 6K streams. First off I will say that there is no comparison. The seios shoot out a hollow cone of water. If you put your hand in front of them they feel like a wide jet. Better than say a maxi jet but still a jet. The streams put out well a stream. They move much more water but it is not a violent flow. Yes they are expensive but if you want the best streams are it.

Im thinkin about gettin the one stream w/controller, but if i want another one later on a controller it's gonna be lame to have two separate control panels ;(

How far do the streams stick off the wall with the magnet holder?

Thanks!

The magnet holder adds no width beyond the regular bracket. They stick out about 4.8".

Just get the multicontroller and you can add another later with only one controller.
