Tunze Stream Recommendations

Roger, what configuration would you recommend for good flow in a 48" x 22" x 20" tank (mostly SPS)?

I'm currently using 2 Vortech MP40s, one on each end of the tank, but I'm not happy with them since I can't control them with my Apex, night mode is only 10 hours (and is lost when power goes out), and they seem overkill since I have to throttle them down a good bit.

I'd like to go with two of the controllable streams (assuming these will work with my Apex), and either keep an MP40 for wave action during full daylight cycle, or possibly go with a Nano wavebox. Would 2 x 6055s be enough, or do you think I will need 6105s or even 6205s?

In most cases if you want two pumps I would go with a pair of 6105s for a mostly SPS tank. The 6055s likely would not be as much flow as you would want. The 6205s would be overkill.

Now that being said the wavebox or the vortech could supply some flow as well but wave action isnt the same as directional flow. I would still go with the 6105s as I ran 4 6055s in my 90 and could have wanted more flow still

go to neptune i think you can control vortech now

Yes, I think it is true that the Neptune controllers now or will soon run Vortech, if that is your only reason to move over, then you might wait a bit. I agree with Shawn on the pump selection.

My Tunzes are a lot quieter then my Vortech was. Not to mention I don't have to deal with the issue of the power outage night mode, or the stalling that happens. So far my Tunze has been great.
