TUNZE Wavebox Question

I bought a TUNZE Wavebox used from my one of my local MAS groups, and it came with a TUNZE 6260.10 Pump and 7240.27 Driver.

I tried it out and feel like I am not getting the See-saw action I see in all the threads. I would like to know if these are the correct components and can be used in conjuction with one another. I know the pump is working correctly, I tested it out in a 5 gallon bucket.

Also see a dial adjustment on the side of the driver box, but wanted to see what you guys suggest.

My tank is 150 Gallon Tank (72" X 18" X 30")

Thanks in advance,

Derek

Hello Derek, the dial adjustment on the driver box is controlling the power of the pump not for you to dial on the wave. You should have the wave controller 7091 with the wavebox...

what is the suggested setting on the power dial adjustment? 2/3 or 3/4 ?

the previous user told me that he had it on a tank with my same dimensions and told me where the wave adjustment should be. about 1/3 of the wave dial adjustment.

6091 is the correct controller. The driver should be at 100% power. The wave adjustment varies with layout, rock density, tank size, overflow position, box placement. It must be tuned for every individual tank. Use the controller to tune in a wave and then use the driver to adjust wave height, only if the wave is too large.

well after making all the adjustments i got what i was looking for. For me to see the wave I have to turn off my return pump and power heads. but it is there so I am happy with it.

What is the ideal setting for the wavemaker? I have frogspawns, hammer corals, SPS, well mixed tank.

If you have a wave, that is the ideal, there is no one right setting, it varies with each tank. When you have one wave with a constant size and interval, you have it properly tuned.

is it ideal to have the concave convex wave or see-saw?

Concave & Convex Wave: the ends of the tank are at the same levels with the middle higher or lower than the ends.

See-saw Wave: one end is higher than the other and alternates ends on the tank.

See-saw wave (single wave) generates the most flow, the double wave you describe is generally only possible in 6ft+ tanks and it does produce less overall flow but may be more natural in very long tanks and the only suitable wave in tanks with a short distance from water surface to tank edge.
