Tunze Wavebox + Vortech's

I have a few questions about a 180 gallon (AGA w/ 2 corner megaflows 72" x 24" x 24") mixed reef I am setting up...

I am transferrign the contents of my 90 gallon reef including the 2 vortech's I have running now. Does it make sense to run the wavebox with my two vortechs on the 180 or is this overkill?

Also, does the wavebox in any way compromise the integrity or longevity of the tank? I have seen a few posts claiming the wavebox shortens the lifetime of the tank by 10-15% so that is a bit concerning. Thanks!!

Yes, it says so in the manual, the wavebox reduces tank life. If this is a brand new tank on a level well made stand it should last 20 years if it is not moved or subjected to temp extremes. Taking off even 25% of the tank life is likely longer than you would keep the tank. Odds are by then it will have scratches or cosmetic imperfections or you will want an upgrade and change tanks.

I don't think that is overkill.
