Two different color monti caps growing together how common? Pics

Good growth for three months. I wonder why, looking at your tank, it is beautiful and your water qaulity is obviously perfect. Good stuff Emster. Thanks for posting the pic of your tank.

Emster, Tank Of The Month is definitely in your future. Wow, WOW, WOW! Your tank really is... perfect.

SJfishguy, same thing. Your tank is a thing to behold. The way you have the clams mixed in with the different types and shapes of corals. And those colors...

If my tank ever ends up half as nice as the two of yours, I will be very pleased.

This is a peice RandyO has at A Reef Creation. Thought it should be shared.

I've tried the same thing with Monti digitata. I've found that they don't sting each other, but some colors definitely grow faster. My green puts out a base very fast that smothers everything. My german blue grown and branches so fast that it tends to block out the others. the pinks and green with orange polyps just can't keep up!

Has any one tryed any encrusting kind

I have tried a few and it did not work out, I have not tried the digi's yet. I have a really bright green cap that I'm thinking about trying with the others but it grows real slow and I'm afraid it would just get taken over.

I put some of the frags in my display this morning, will try and get some pics of those soon. Thanks again for the compliments!

I have about 6 or 7 frag discs that I made up, they have been in the frag tank for awhile now, going to combine 3 or 4 of them together and put them in my display tomorrow. Don't know if I posted a pic of my display but here is an old one....

got a chance to see emmits tank in person it was awesome definately tom material

This is awesome! I have only seen this once before, and not done as creatively.

Love the checkerboard patter on one of your frag disks! I am guessing that those two caps are probably the same sp. just different color morphs.

Sullyman, that's from a few months back!?! How many centimeters growth do you get per month?

Nice job.

3-4 months, some like caps grow very quickly for me. They were 2 colonies that I put together, so not from frags, and they started growing around each other. At first they stung each other a bit, now they're like kissing cousins, and are growing together faster.

I'm sorry guys I have been so busy, I'm going to try and update as soon as I can. Thanks for looking.

I do think this is a fabulous idea. I fragged two caps last night and stuck them close to each other.

One is naturally light brown, the other's a reddish colour. Cannot wait till they grow together!

For good measure, I fragged approx 2 polyps of an acro, but didn't have the balls to glue directly to my new experiment. I'm sure the monti's will outgrow the frag and cover it up quick sharp.

I have a sick monti (encrusting type) which was badly stung by an LPS and is having trouble recovering. I plan on fragging that (heavily) and will experiment the next time I "accidentally" frag something. :-)

Keep the pics coming guys, loving this.

Thank you howeroll for the compliments on my tank! Really not sure what to think about all this TOTM stuff, I really don't see my tank as a contender but really do appreciate the props. Glad you enjoyed the tank!

I'm going to try and get some pics up of the caps real soon.
