Two Rabbitfish?

JellyTheory

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with two Rabbitfish in the same reef tank? Did they fight? Did they get along? Did they ignore eachother?

Thanks!

-Chris

Some species do okay in pairs if introduced simultaneously (doliatus) others will not tolerate additional rabbitfish.

it all depends on the particular fish. I have two rabbit fish. One is a scribbled, and the other a fiji. They were both introduced at different times. and at first they kind of seemed to puff at each other but were fine after a day or two. good luck

Thanks! That's kind of what I was hoping to hear. I know it will be different with every fish though.

I'm looking to put two of them (one an orangespot, the second a magnificent) into a 340gallon tank I'm going to be upgrading to. So, hopefully they will both be happy. :)

I had two doliatus and they always hung out side by side! They'd get into a skuffle every now and again but were peacefull for the most part! If you get two be prepared to go through tons of marine algae, other wise they may nip at your softies and lps!

yeah i forgot to mention that they all school together. we have the two rabbit fish, a yellow tang, hippo tang, and a naso

I just added a scribbed and a yellow bluespotted rabbitfish last week. they were quarlling for like 5 minutes now they swim together like a pair, I think they are the same genus?

But I have a suspicious feeling that my yellow rabbitfish may be messing with my clams, if i see it again, that sucker is out of there.

O BTW, they eat that dried seaweed algae like its nothing.

also a cheaper alternative is romaine lettuce. I throw a leaf in every day. its gone in 5 minutes from all the rabbit fish and tangs

I have scribbled, spotted, and foxface. All 3 in a 180, and they are the largest in the tank. they get along with each other but the sohal tang doesnt like the spotted , during feeding time anyway.
