type of mh lighting question

Can the same mh lights that are used for indoor plant growing be used in a reef aquarium? If not possible to use the bulb and balast maybe just the ballast and a special bulb? any help appreciated

Plant bulbs are usually 5k sometimes 6700. Reef bulbs are usually 10k to 15 or even 20k. It really depends on th ballast as to if it will fire MH bulbs, some are actually designed for high pressure sodium bulbs and are a different frequency. You almost have to check with the bulb and ballast manufacturers as to compatibility on something like that. If it is a standard ballast like an Advance or Westinghouse I have catalogs and cross references for them.
