tyree most wanted capricornis

Eric,

I know Mike had the coral. I shipped it to him. You did state HAD. The question is when did he lose it. I know what he personnaly told me. Back in the mid-90's, Montiporas were new and there were many unknowns. Now of course we know that the plating, scrolling and branching types are easy to keep and grow like weeds. I recommend the plating/scrolling types to beginners. I have verified my recollection of events with Bill Schroer. Everything was correct. The only additional info is that Julian Edwards may have gotten a frag of it from Piece of the Reef, but he lost it fairly soon due to a tank catastrophe.

Chris,

Its best to locate the blue chalice in a far corner away from the bulb. Just thing of those color charts of light distribution that Sanjay Joshi has developed. The light levels can dramatically drop off the the far corners of a reflector. The tarket color is bright blue.

Steve-

I am going to frag it soon (such a slow grower) and I will place a frag in the corner or in the relative shade of a ledge. We will see if I can get this thing to color up nicer!

Here is a closeup of the Real Leng Sy polyps taken back in 1996. This is from a slide I show to reef clubs. Nodule color is dark green, while polyp color is very bright green.

That was out of my 350 reef. You can see some more pics of that system in my web site. I have to warn you there are lots of pop ups. Love those free sites.

Still working on it ,when ever there is free time. Sorry to the dial-up users. The images are large and there are a few.

Since this seems to be a Monti lovers thread, I thought you might like this pic. It's one of my favorites.
NICE :eek2: :eek1: :eek2:
I love the center and complete shape. Monti Caps are my favorite of all corals. They are so unique in colors and shapes. How can you not love them?

So much hoopla over a Monti Cap! It is nice, isn't it!:D

I'm still waiting for the PE to appear on 2 frags I have. Still no luck!:( They must really like intense light!

Steve,

Hows the frag of Montipora Aquituberculat doing that I gave you back. My colonly is growing my out of house and home.

Jason

This is a frag that is positioned lower down on the grow out system, and that's why it does not have the intense green. It shows the polyp color difference very well though.

I wanted to include this pic of my Green with Purple Rim Morph II so that you could see how close these corals can look like each other but are yet different. The rim looks blue but it's really pink(trust me). It looks like this because the 10k MH that sits above it has shutdown for the night and I took the pic with VHO blue and one 10k still on that's on the other side of the tank not above the coral. It still looks pink to the eye but the camera sees it as blue. You can almost see the polyp shape but the color of the polyps is the same as the background tissue and this is one of the features that distinguishes it from Morph I.

Will respond to Jason via email. Dont want to abuse the forum here.

Also, concerning listing my stuff on frags.org - I think its a great online system and seems to work well. I was in communication with the developer of that server software about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. I gave him some input and thought he had a good idea. Took a long time to get running, but sometimes the wait is worth it. I was one of the initial 10 invited to be first on the site. I was just too busy to do anything about it. Right now my main market is a highly specialized one and I dont see a need to be on frags.org, but maybe in the future. Its also very difficult to just find the time to update the two web sites I already have.

Frag Guy-I took a look around your website, and not to take this thread off track, but your spawning Regals are incredible! Nice video by the way.

Spawning pair of regal angels is one of the best accomplishments by a reefer I've ever seen. The spawning pair of purple tangs is quite amazing itself as well. Great job Rafael.

What do you feed your Regals?

FragGuy,

You should report your amazing success of the spawning pairs to the Breeder's Registry. I've never heard of that happening before in a hobbiest's tank. You must be doing something right. Great tank, BTW. Sorry to go off topic, but I was blown away by the breeding angels. You definitely need to be writing about your breeding pair and the parameters in your tank. Perhaps a whole new thread?

Jim

sps not fish

Folks I'm sorry if someone takes this wrong. But what does breeding fish have to do with sps corals? This thread is going in wrong direction.

rreed is correct, we can either start up a new thread and talk about my spawning fish or pickup on an existing one if any one has any suggestions.

Regarding my Monti's. I have received lots of requests and I'm trying to get a list together in the order that they come in to be fair. If I don't get back to you right away please don't dispair I will not forget about you just hang in there but make sure to send me an email.

I will be on vacation mid next week and I'll be back on Monday.
Going to the Turks and Caicos to do some snorkling and diving.
:bum:

Thanks for your patience and don't worry there should be enough montis to go around. If we could only get Fedx to cut us a deal.
