I'm going to be honest. I respect the sport of boxing and there are some great boxers out there but comparing MMA to boxing is like comparing football to golf.
 
Glove weight aside, I've seen a number of MMA and boxing matches end the exact same way standing up... 32 second KO.

But yes, your correct, apples and oranges.
 
I wasn't really comparing them just talking about the amount of action that drew me to the sport of boxing early on with boxers like Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Haggler....etc. That quality of boxing just doesn't seem to exist anymore IMO. I stopped watching that much and then MMA came along and I didn't have to wait 5 rounds to see them actually engage each other in the middle of the ring.
 
well i think at one point a year ago some boxers were talking trash because the box fans had switch to MMA they were saying anyone could do mma

BTW, did anyone get a chance to see the Fight Night they held at Ft Bragg? I missed it and wondered if it was worth downloading.

I only seen one fight from the fight night. Some tall skinny guy broke his leg in half kicking the other guys shin. That was kinda cool.
 
yeah i have been waiting for the 27th! my brother inlaw comes home on leave and he is the one that got me into the ufc . It should be a great fight night!
 
Its a stacked card for sure. I'm going to call "fight of the night" right now: Yushin Okami vs Dean Lister! Nice to see Ryo Chonan back in there too.

Check out the clip but watch the whole fight if you can. What's amazing is Ryo pulls this off at the very end of a 15 minute fight where both fighters beat each other up pretty good, but IMO (not the commentators) Silva landed more hard shots and was going to win the fight before the sub. Its really hard to pull off any leg locks at the end of a fight due to all the sweat but a flying-scissor-sweep-reverse-heal-hook :eek2: slick move, pun intended. ;)

where is everyone going? we are getting it at the house. Brother inlaw's flight from germany should be a 530 arrival ( on leave ) should be a great night of fighting
