So I got a MH for my nano, and im having a algea bloom. Oh what fun it is. Nice and brown diatoms.

Time to get some more snails, but I live sooooo far away from YR.

BUT I love the way the tank looks oh so nice....

I got my first SPS

A superman monti

a bright neon yellow/green birds nest and a unknown sps that I am nursing back to health.

Once i can find my camera cable , I will post Pics.

They told me I didn't need a MH. Glitter lines. 'Nuff said. Daddy's MH. No touch.

Good luck on yer algae issue.

Dont know phosphates, but my trates are at 0

I probably have a lil phosphates.

I use RO water/

Yeah but phospahtes add up no matter if you use RO or not.
I find I need to run phosban about once every 4 months on each tank, and then all is fine. I find every 4 months to be preventitive.
I start to see phos at about 4 months but never let it get high enough to start blooms.

Algae need food and light.......you just increased the quality of light and allowed more to flourish. Anytime you do anything to your tank such as change bulbs, add more livestock etc.....you throw what was in balance, out of balance and the system readjusts........

It could be thought of as a mini cycle. Phospates are a good place. A couple of WCs and a few days it will be all good. Feed less....esp with a nano.

I run RowaPhos 24/7 in a reactor and SPS don't like Phospates much......a tell tale is a pale green hue on SRTN at the base.

Ya I knew it was because of the light, but it's just ugly. Turning all brown and my snails in there now, are not doing that good of a job cleaning it.

Yes it's because of the ligh (sort of)
It takes two to tango, meaning you only had one before, and that's what kept you tank in check (not enough light)

Now that you plan to keep the light, I would plan to fix a nutrient problem, to get the equasion back to 1x0=0
