My first marine fish was a maroon and shes doing well 9 months later (yep still a noob), but while looking to try and find a second one I realized alot of young maroons are sorta ugly with brownish colors and squared off faces. Is this normal or is the LFS I go to that typically has maroons just have an unscruplous breeder or will these grow up to be attractive typical maroons? I finally found a juvy that has the features I wanted and im in the acclimation process.... and thats going slow

My LFS doesn't have any that color. Every maroon I've seen as a juvy as had distinctive maroon color with brilliant red eyes. So, maybe a bad brood?
