My buddy surprised me with these two scorps from a recent LA run: s. macrochir (aka the flashing scorpionfish) and a super tiny Inimicus didactylus. He's barely 1 1/2 long! I was able to swoop out my damn toadfish from my 20. He murdered of my last goblin and hes in my sump ready to go to my lfs. Their gonna share a 20g with a S. papuensis for the time being.

Heres a blurry acclimation shot in a blue bucket with flash :bum:

p.s. almost got a rhinophias today... almost.

Sweet score!! I'd love to find a inimicus that small.

How positive are you about the id of those guys? Both of those can be tricky to properly identify. Once you get some better pics we'll be able to tell. The easiest way to tell for sure with both those species is to get a glimpse behind the pec fins. If at any time when your moving them around they flare their warning colors try to get a pic of it.

Great friend you have by the way ;-) can't wait to see more pics

I am pretty confident on the ids. The gobin is a very unmistakable fish, and not my first one either. The flashing scorp was labeled on the invoice as such and even had the species name on there. It is definitely not as red as the one on DFS but mine was also a 1/10th of the price. He does have the long snout alot like the on divers den.

What I was getting at is that the flasher and the goblin both have almost identical cousins. Obviously the color has nothing to do with distinguishing them, except for behind the pec fins.

Here's a pic of my diabolus, very similar to your macrochir

And here's the only pic I've ever got of him flashing his warning

Here are some good id pics

Those look like Frank's drawings... ;) They're a great ID reference.

Our juvie diabolus is rooming with a juvie radiata, and the other PM, it made me LOL. Both of these fish are SUPER strong feeders, and our little scorp got p!ssed at the radiata because it was too close, so it flashed the lion, then curled up its tail like a stingfish and hopped away on its pecs. I could almost hear it grumbling...

I most definitely have an s. macrochir. I poked him with a stick and his fins were bright yellow. Pics coming soon when i have a chance.
