ULNS and astrenia's

Im aiming at ulns using the brs bio pellets, no3 and po4 still not down yet but Im just in the first month. I have two harlequin shrimp because they are pretty and also to contain my astrenia population. The balance for the last year has been mutual, enough astrenias reproduced to keep the shrimp satisfied, but I just noticed since starting the bio pellet system, I havent seen an astrenia in weeks and Im concerned about my shrimps well being. You guys out there that have established ulns or shooting for it and had astrenias, did they disappear for you as well?

They won't disappear but almost. You'll have to trade your harlequins or get live stars to feed them as the y are obligate starfish eaters and will starve without them.

Asterina populations tend to decrease the "cleaner" the system gets. You'll probably need to start supplementing the Harlequins with the least expensive stars you can find.
