Ultimate 20G Setup Journal - Pic Intense

Hello: I have a mag 5 with a SQWD and straight nozzles on the loc-lines and it is really strong for my 20 High. I need flaired nozzles to settle it down some. I don't mean to steal this thread but I started out with everything OK, then as my tank started to cycle I started to get a few microbubbles. when the rock cured and the phosphates and nitrates were just about zero the bubbles were almost gone as well. I ordered a refugium critter kit and live sand (really smelly stuff) and now my nitrates are back up to 5 and my phosphates are upto .25, my microbubbles has returned again. Is the Mag pump prone to poor water? Anybody else with this problem, which will go away again.....I hope!

The return pump has nothing to do with your water parameters other than possibly adding a few degrees to the temperature...

Most likely, the refugium kit and live sand both had some die off which caused the spike in your parameters...do a small water change and then a test the next day...repeat a few days later and you should have your parameters under control...

Sorry folks. The new baby has totally drained my wife and I. Just yesterday I started the system back up. I'm going to have to move it to a different location so that it can support an auto-topoff, and then I should be adding some life.

Bear with me!

NICE!!!

NICE!!!

That is a beautiful setup.....I think it is great that so many ppl have the passion to spend sooooo much time on something so small

I love that stand and canopy, great craftmanship....

DSParks

Great looking tank and I love the lighting.

How is your sump working out for you. I notice the overflow drains into the same chamber as you DSB. That doesn't cause any disruption?

I am working on converting my wet/dry into a refugium this weekend and looking for all the ideas i cna get.

me 2 ... any updates?

if nothing from dsparks (understandably if new little one!), feel free everyone see how (little) progress i'm making with mine, click the red house link ;) i'm looking for some feedback on the plumbing & pics posted near the end of my thread.

Amazing set up! I just finished reading all 15 pages of this thread only to find no updates for 8 months!

Come on...updates please!

Thanks James! I've actually been here lurking for about a year...I just don't talk much (despite what my wife would tell you).
