Underwater in St. Maarten

Looks great!! We spent 12 nights on Okaloosa Island FL and dove out of Destin with Scubatech back in July and then went back for 4 nights and spent 3 days of diving with the same diveshop LD weekend. I am heading back TG day for 3 nights and will dive for 2 days and hopefully head back in January for another weekend of diving. We will be heading to Vieques and Culebra PR for 2 weeks in July. The diving off Culebra is supposed to be outstanding. There are no inland streams, etc to cloud the water. We dove last summer off the big island of PR and it was good, but Culebra, especially and also Vieques are supposed to be much better. I can't wait!! What type of camera and strobe did you use? I am just getting into underwater photography and bought a used Sea and Sea film camera with external strobe. I really bought it just to judge if I wanted to bother with photography. I love it and hope to have a digital before next summer!!

Let me know how PR is. I was there a few years back and was supposed to get a chance to dive of Shack's Beach (think that was the name), but business meetings ran until the daily rain shower at 4:00;). I've heard they've had more issues with bleaching in PR on the reef building corals. I'd love to get down there to dive.

I'm not sure on the camera. The dive shop we went through had five or six of them on the boat and rented them out (though they didn't end up charging me for the dive I took one on). Jeff (with the dive shop) got some pretty goot shots with them. We took our Canon XTi, but don;t have ahousing. He recommended something on the cheaper end (~$700 for camera and housing so that you don't lose the expensive camera if the housing leaks-$1500 housing for the XTi, in addition to body and lens cost...). I'll see if I can get the info on the camera. He had a different attachment that just popped onto the front of the housing to go wide angle (didn't use it when I took them).
