underwater vid of new baby blue gig

Here's an underwater video of my baby blue gig which arrived last night. I immediately placed it into a 10g treatment tank and dropped in 250mg of cipro. Lights out for the night. This am, I did an 80% water change and placed an old t5 hood on top of the tank (the hood is much longer than the 10g tank and only has 2 bulbs).
When I repositioned the powerhead to get more direct flow, I noticed the slime coming off but didnt remove it. I think the white flake on the nem is salt scraped off my saltwater making trash can. I left it alone in hopes of it blowing off.

Doesn't look too bad aside from the bleaching. It's recommended to do 100% waterchanges during treatment though.

Yes and syphon away some of that junk as you can.

Looks pretty good so far. Keep documenting it and lets see how it progresses.

I will do as 100% water change today since I'm off work and will have time to clean my other 10g and xfer the gig.
I purchased this light which arrives today. Should give me a more focused light source while in treatment:

Here's a video of day 3 (yesterday). It seemed to not care for the direct flow of the powerhead. On day 1, I had egg crate and it almost detached. When doing the water change last night, I gave it a few minutes to reattach w/o the powerhead flow. It reattached to the center of the bowl and hasnt moved from the spot - kind of ducking the higher flow above the bowl. I've been dosing cipro @ 250mg a night. 100% water change last evening. May add a small hang on back filter (sans carbon) to remove the particles from the water.
May forgo the water change today. What do you guys think?

I definitely wouldn't skip the waterchange. 100% daily for the 7 day treatment. You can just fill the tank with 5 gals of water instead of the full 10 if it makes the changes easier. Just split the pills in a.half.

Never skip the water change.

Dont need to worry about the filter. Just make sure airator is in there too.

So... Powerhead, Heater, Airstone, Bowl (nice looking btw) and Anenone.

yes, it's one of my favorite bowls Wife wasnt too happy seeing it in the tank.
The gig was as "puffy" as I've seen it when I came down to check on it this morning. I took a couple pics of it in that state then a video as I turned on the lights. As the lights came on, it loses some of that puffiness and opens up to the light. Pretty cool to watch!
The hang-on-back filter did a good job clearing up the particles floating in the water so I prefer to keep it. It also dumps water over the nem, creating a nice little flow and oxygenating the water so I prefer that over air stones.

Everyday. I did it right before I did the next dose of cipro. That way I knew it was good and safe for the night with fresh water. No worry about the light or anything else. Cipro starts to break down with light.

Here we are at day 7! The gig seems really fluffy and fully extended when the lights are off but after some time with the light, it contracts a bit and its mouth tends to open up. Maybe the bulb is too close to the surface (just above it)?

In the tank do you have a place where you are going to start to try and have it stay?

The water changes aren't that bad provided I clean up the 2nd 10g tank ahead of time. I just fill the other tank, xfer the accessories, and pick up the gig's bowl.
Yes, the spot for the gig is in the center of the tank. I'll clear out the rock (with the rubber band) that's currently in the spot. I use that spot to tie romaine lettuce to that rock for the tangs.

Hummm... not to laugh or anything... Are you serious?

So you are baiting the tang to come to the center of the tank and eat some romaine. It has known about this spot for some time. You are going to play a mean trick on it and swapp out the romaine with an anemone?

If you dont want the tang that bad you can ship it to me.

I would move the rock with the BTA and mushrooms on it to the left and place the new anemone to the right. Just saying. Nothing like breaking up the structure to get something to stop going someplace for a handout.

I'd tuck it in that hole in the rock below the zoas on the right side and move those few frags somewhere else.

I put the lettuce in both spots actually. The only hesitation with the spot on the right is the fact that the rock mushrooms out a bit creating more shade than I would prefer. But it's better than killing my tangs!

I meant the spot on the rock just above and to the right of where the tang is swimming in your pic. You need to find somewhere where it can get a lot of flow.

For removing it I usually use a credit card to peel up an edge and then rub the foot with my finger to let it slowly peel off.

do not pinch it, what ever you do. Rubbing on the edge with your finger will let it feel and know something is putting pressure there. It will start to move and maybe left that edge to get it out of the way quicker.

Sliding your finger, once you get an edge, under it will slowly free it. Again being careful not to pinch it or damage the foot in anyway.

I have taken a bowl and held it sideways near the rock I wanted it to go to and it moved right over to it, in an anemone time frame...... minutes. For me... Yeah lunch and dinner. HAHAHA

(OK I did not hold it... I kinda propped it. )
