Unhappy Goniopora

My goniopora frag has been experiencing tissue recession with red algae colonizing the bits of exposed skeleton. The polyps themselves look healthy and fully extend. The tissue recession began after a target feeding of SeaChem Zoo plankton. I had been receiving good feeding response from the phyto and wanted to try the zoo. Any advice on how to nurse my goniopora back to health? Thanks.

For me, changing my salt from Reef Crystals to Tropic Marin brought my goni back from the brink. It started to recede shortly after I got it. I was feeding Oyster Feast and Reef Roids. I saw a paper from Julian Sprung that mentioned that they need manganese and a talk at MACNA last year mentioned that US made salts do not have enough of it. It has definitely helped mine and now the polyps are fat and long and it is recovering lost territory. Good luck!

The unhappy Goniopora is probably do to your Phosphate issue, I believe they are all one in the same. Fix the phosphate and your Goni will perk up.
