Unique: A Reefing Journal: A Look Back & A Movement Forward

Fruit loops are fruit loops. Some are better colored than others. Get a different color under a different light, or even a strand that isn't as healthy as the next, and fools like Jason fox put their name on it and act like it's supposed the be something rare or special. If they were different, they wouldn't all be called "fruit loops".

The second ones I have are finally coloring up and have not been healthy for over half a year. They are also half the size. Thats some reasons they don't look the same.

This is what drives me crazy about designer names...there really is no standard. So it is very possible for someone to call something fruit loops and have it look totally different then the commonly recognized polyp of the same name. In the same breath there are also polyps that are the same, yet go by totally different names.

This is why I'm trying not to label with names. Just wana focus on the beauty of the polyp. I might have to go by a hobby name if I'm looking for a certain polyp however. But I'm more concerned with patterns and colors than names myself now ;)

I find it comical that this thread has basically been Pat and I back and forth. Start talking about names and opinions on the nonsense that is "high end", and all of a sudden people are interested. Too funny. It's drawn more interest in the last few posts than my system itself has, which is unlike anything, anywhere, and completely unique.

Folks, it does not pay to be different, lmao ;)

Ill tell you not sure if I would like the tiers but it does look pretty awesome. Expecially with all the zoas. The crazy one that looks like a cube is cool. How are all the other guys you got from me the other day doing. I see the lobster made it

Pillars are not for everybody it's one of those hate it or love it designs. Like bare bottom and sand you know. I do like that fruit loop though regardless of who named it

I wasn't gonna get into the name debate. My wife has tons of zoas and knows most of the names which helps us discuss growth and color instead of saying that yellow purple and red one lol. Some of the names are contagious, as well as some just make sense, like her candy apple reds, etc.

I still hate this for a good display, lol.

4 of the 6 are doing really well. The other two are still settling in, but coming around ;)

Very pleased with all the pieces I got from ya, thanks again!

I get that people don't like them, but my focal point and reason for sharing is the polyps. The corals. It's not really about the tiers at all. I'm a zoa geek. So I share pics of them. And my past in reef keeping.

I'm not a fan of piles of rock and artificial looking reefs sorta speak. You know, fruit stand style, lol. so I focus in their efforts with the corals and other aspects. I don't dwell on the aspects I don't care for. Most everyone takes a different approach. In the end we are all reefers and our efforts should be respected. Especially amongst fellow clubbies.

IMO, The names are good to an extent. Especially for ID purposes. But when people start the "Jason fox, vivid, Ora red planet thing, or saying their is 5 different kinds of watermelon zoas, in an attempt to make theirs sound better than the next, that is friggen stupid.

I really appreciate your interest in my efforts. I follow your tank closely and often. I wish you would have accepted my nomination for TOTM ;) lol. But I get it bro. We are our own biggest critics!

The growth and results you get can not be questioned that is for sure. I've been tagging along and will continue to do so!

I do like the pillars. I think expecially since its all zoas makes it cool.

It's gonna take time, but when/if they start to cover the tops and grow down, it will give it some perspective and substance. I'm surrounded by musicians and artists at work, and it's more about vision of what will be, rather than the idea of having it all looking good right from the get to or shortly after. This style is gonna take time and patience. As well as a fair amount of luck, lol.

Don't believe I have posted these yet. Hard to get clear pics of anything not a few inches from the glass. These are starting to do real well and mat out now that they have made it over the glue. Never a good idea to slap polyps that aren't attached to rubble and flesh cut, into a pile of glue.

The centers are getting a nice green to them with the orange/peach colored mouth.
