Unique Reef Fish between $200 and $500

I'm thinking of redoing my stock list slightly. A few fish that WILL stay:

Potters Angels pair
Diamond Goby
Bartlett's Anthias

So anything new would HAVE to get along with those. I also keep:

Zoas and other various softies, Frogspawn, Hammer, and a few Montipora pieces..digitatas and some encrusting ones. No other SPS. I'd like to have a clam some day.

This is for a 6' 220g, so nothing too huge or too tiny. No jumpers, please.

If at all possible, post a pic of your suggestion!!

if i were u i wouldnt plan on having any clams with a pair of potters angels. a group of flame wrasses would be cool. i had a male and 2 females in my 120g and they look awesome. any of the higher end fairy wrasses look good in groups. my male, who died a few months ago, is pictured in my avatar.

I also own a 6' 225g tank that has been up and running for 2 years now and I love the fairy wrasses. Most of my fish are in that price range.

Your price range is very subjective. Depends on your source for fish> Where do you buy your fish? Diver's Den? LFS? That type of money should be able to get you 90-95% of fish that are normally available. Tim

I will definitely look into the fairy wrasses. I have not given them much research, so I really don't know much about wrasses. Some are jumpers, right? And some can't be mixed??

All of them are jumpers and you have to have a top cover on your tank, but if you like alot of color and constant motion in your tank , fairy wrasses are it. Most of the fairy wrasses get along also.

How about a scribbled angel and moorish idol

I have the moorish idol for about a week now and has been eating from day one and i just ordered a scribbled angel in the last hour

I'm afraid to try any non-Genicanthus angels that get large. It seems once they really mature, they start eating corals.

I'd recommend looking into Pylei fairies. Mine was only $130, but it's a very stunning and unique fish that I have yet to see in anyone else's tank. There are a couple of different color morphs, so make sure you do a WYSIWYG if you do purchase one. Also understand that there's a striking difference between their coloration that is caused by pics with and without flash. I can post a couple of mine if you want.

The problem with saying no jumpers is that it pretty much eleminates all wrasses, which obviously does away with the colorful fairies. But, I can sympathize. I wouldn't want a $500 carpet surfer either.
