Unknown Blenny

This is going to be tough without a photo, so I will try to get one. I cannot find any reference or pics, but he is all blue, and the dorsal fin all the way to the tail is gold. He has the face of an escenius blenny{like a bi-color}. No tufts on the head. Any help is appreciated...maybe you know of a good site with lots of ID photos?

Thanks Gary, I am going to get a pic today. This guy is small, less than 2". And yeah..I saw that site, but thanks very much. We got in a whole shipment of strange gobies and blennies. The wholesalers' like to call them things like "fancy goby" and blue & gold blenny", very general.

Look at Meiacanthus sp. blennies.

Not the goldentail, although the shape is close. He has the eye of an ecenius though, and he is a beautiful blue color. The entire dorsal is yellow or gold. I'm striking out,I have looked through all the pics on fishbase.org, but all of the types don't have pics. Thanks Dave, that species has the wrong look. He is adorable...will try again to get his pic today. So far...except fot the color, this one is the closest in body and facial shape. At night his head turns solid white.

This is the best shot I have gotten so far. He's pretty nervous when I get near the tank he turns dark and hops in this coral.

Well..someone found this, and it's listed as the same name as the yellow ones above. Maybe these are just juvenile colors...or there are more than one color.

Thanks Rothie and Angel. He is very cute, and the coolest thing has happened. My Rainsford's goby seems to really like him. They spent all day yesterday hanging out together..picking at the rock where the blenny likes to stay. The Rainsford's never went to that spot before this. I found out there are several color variations, so he will most likely stay this color. I've never heard of a blenny changing colors anyway. I think mostly tangs and angels do.

It is Ecsenius lividanalis... There is two varient in this specie... One is the blue and gold and the other is the yellowish-brownish...
They might nip at sps... So be careful...
