Update and internet access for old Apex

Have a old black apex with eb8. I need to update the firmware and internet access on it. I moved a few months ago and actually can hard wire it in the new spot (added a port on the wall that's hardwired to my router). I do not have the APex fusion either so am pretty much setting it up like new. I am worried though when I do it all the equipment I already have setup on schedules and all will be erased. Does anyone know if that's the case? Worried because I have no way to log into it right now to copy my codes and schedules so worried about losing it all and having to re learn/set them up.

If you have an existing Apex with existing configuration, just set it up hardwired in your new place and access it like you used to... through your router with the local IP address. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I'm not sure why you're "pretty much setting it up like new." No need to reset anything... just access it like you used to and then save your configuration. Once you've done that, then go ahead and update the firmware and set up Fusion if you want.

Nothing gets erased when you update firmware... unless something goes wrong. I'm just not clear why you can't log into it now, if you had access to it previously.

I think my issue is it hasn't been updated in years and I do not have fusion. Was still using the old dashboard that no longer exist. I have no choice but to update and switch to fusion now. I did contact Neptune yesterday and they did say I will lose current settings. I will just have to figure it all out again :(.

The old classic dashboard still exists. It has not gone away. You still access it using the IP address.

im sorry I meant the old phone APP. You are correct the dashboard is still around and I could get in. its the app I used (old one not fusion) that's gone. That's what has had me messed up.

If you log in to the classic dashboard, you can back up your configuration settings. Just log into the classic dashboard via the IP address. Then go to the configuration tab and select Load/Save and “save” the file. When you do the update, you should not loose your settings anyways but if you do, you “should” be able to restore the original configuration settings from your backup fine using the load settings option under load/save. Backup, then do the update. Your settings should still be there. If not, then load the backup config file. Then connect to Fusion.

As others have said, you don't need to update... you don't need to use Fusion unless you want to. And the old app (Android, at least) does still work... at least over wifi. I still have it on my phone and just tried it... works like a charm.

I think Neptune must've misunderstood your question because I don't remember losing any settings when I updated several years of old firmware a while back.
