questions, comments, concerns? feel free to post.

Do you give it much supplementary feeding? How does it find the 15k lights? I have mine under 10k 150W HQI bulbs and it is very happy, i am concerned that i am bordering on underlighting it so i feed it daily. Does it show any preference to other spectra (especially of a lower kelvin rating?). Ive read that 10k MH has a higher PAR rating than higher temperature spectra for most shallow water anemones such as Magnificas. Well is i suppose the anemone itself tells the story and yours looks bril!
Nice work!

i feed it a silverside every now and then but i believe it gets most of its evergy from the lights. as for lower kelvin rating, i havent gone with anything lower than 15K. when i originally purchased it the bulbs i had were 20K XM. it was doing well but its growth was slower until i switched to 15K. i would imagine if i went to 10K it might do even better, so when these bulbs need changed ill try to see if anything different happens.

the anemone is pretty much dead center in the tank about 6-7'' below the water surface. my CL pump is an iwaki 30RXT with a return on both ends of the tank. they point directly at eachother so where they collide with eachother is pretty close proximity to right above the anemone. ill see if i can take a video how strong the flow is where he sits.

edit: here is a link to a video, sorry for the quality.

That's more flow than mine has currently. I have found that Magnificas will tell you immediately when they arent happy, by moving! Mine is stationary and growing rapidly so i wont worry too much. I will supply it with more flow when i mod the maxijets. Yours looks really great in the current though!!

truthfully, whenever i feel like one needs done. i dont really do a set schedule, i might do one every other week or i might not do one for 3 months.

im using IO salt but i dont use RODI or anything of that sort. all my topoff and WC water comes straight out of the tap. my area has excellent drinking water, so buying an RODI unit would really be a waste of money.

Z_rivers, here are some pics of my Magnifica with all flow/current switched off.

That's it pretty much fully expanded from the top down view about a month and a half ago. Has grown noticably since then!

Opening just after lights on, same date as previous.

Ocellaris happily hosting!

for any of you guys/girls that have ever kept magnificas, do your ever suck all their tentacles up and form the ball? i dont believe ive ever seen mine do that before, even at night, its fully expanded constantly.

55semireef- id say i have a medium bio load, mainly SPS/LPS with some zoas and softies. my cleanup crew is about 35 nassarius obsoleta snails, 2 cleaner shrimp, mixture between astrea (about 8), nerite (about 6), and cerith snails that reproduce non-stop so i dont know how many. i also have a conch that is always sifting in the sand. i feed the tank a mixture of foods about every day or every other day.

looks good , keep up the good work ;)

My old one would ball up occasionally after feeding, but the two new clones have not.

btw. how are they doing? remmember you mentioned being pessimistic about them..?
