stella hes beautfiul for being a juv. he shoud develop well. i feed mine wiht cyclo. and there colors seem to be very bright.

great pic of him>! try to get another one so you can pair them up.

that a bleached bubble tip anemone. you can see the same anemone on the last picture. I beleive it is the same. ezhoops can you contirme this?

my onyx clown is completely black besides for the white bars and the edge of his fins are white. i would love to post a pic but can't get a clean shot of him. any tips on how to take good pics of my clown?

i bought him for $8.00 at a LFS. he used to be orange,but turned black. i named him Blackie. i'll try to post pics if i can get a good shot.

hey everyone, i am picking up a pair tomorrow that is supposed to be about 2"s maybe a little bigger, i have a 3" green bta in my tank... it is the only thing, no corals, will they kill it, should i take it out?

also how small is the male usually when fully grown

I wouldn't say that it is bleached because it eats like mad and I've had it for over a year now. It just split too.

all i kno is that i bought him at the LFS and he was labeled as a False Perc. He was orange when i bought him and gradually turned black in a few months. what does that make him???

That is a black variant A. Ocellaris. Onyx clowns are A. Perculas with black connecting all 3 bars.

It may not be an Onyx, but it's a gorgeous specimen nonetheless. My boyfriend has a pair and they still have a bit of orange face on them. Nice fish!

stella yoru bfs black clowns are juv. i have a pair also.

as juv.s they have an orange face, but within a year they ll be deep black like mr2k.

Embryoguy, if you look at my previous pics you'll notice the time frame of the first two and last one is three months apart. I've notice only very very slight change in color in these three months. I've put them in their own tank and I intend to concentrate on them and saturate feed them daily and also provide them with another type of anem. (don't why just want too)
I'm in the process of looking for another pair of onyx but I want these to be "perfect" color and bars. let me know if anyone knows where I can get a pair.

to be honest, i think its best to wait for Rod, in christmas time.

ive done extensive research on onyx and besides LA, rod is the only other source. but LA, i do not know of anyone having theres live past a year.

rod s clowns i think hvae the best color , pattern, and body. next time you know what to look for and be very specific from him of what you want . and im sure you ll be happy!>

in meantime if i do find another source ill let you know.

again i feed mine cyclopeeze, and so far mine have maintained realy good color.

What makes an Onyx an Onyx? I've seen plenty of True Perculas with the black markings similar to that of the previous poster.
