Upgrading tank.

Hi,

I have a 8 month old 260L with 6 anemones (5bta, 1 magnifica). I am currently cycling a 600L with 100L sump, it has 42kg of live rock and I have another 35kg from my 260L I will move over.

Can I say at the 2 month mark for the new tank move all my nems over with the 35kg of very mature rock?

Just don't fancy running 2 tanks for say 6 months with the electricity cost etc.

Cheers

i would say that as soon as your new tank has stable parameters, youll be fine introducing your anemones. the time thing is really pretty arbitrary, if you have no nitrates, stable alk and temperature, etc...then your anemones will not know the difference between your existing system and your new system.

Thanks for the reply Ron, that's what I was hoping to hear. I don't know about American reefers feelings on this subject but in the UK it's very much oh you must have at minimum a 6 month old tank.

its certainly a number passed around here a lot too. i think it has more to do with having people gain a better understanding of their aquarium and the experience with their system...than a biological time period in which an aquarium is able to sustain an anemone. cant hurt to have patience though...
