Upsidedown wrasse

A thought would be to do a near 100% water change and get rid of the prazi and see if that changes anything. I'd just be be very careful to match the new water with the old and do it in such a way as to minimize stress.

Thank you everyone!
its nearly noon, day four. Still alive. Still alert.(looking around) .On his side again, though.
Since he hasn't been tempted by live blackworms, I tried fresh salmon today. No interest.
He just lay there.
now I've read your new input, I'll try ova. I'll go get some today. I'm out of cyclopeez so I'll grab some too. To answer your questions, no he wasn't eating prior to Prazi. I dosed as recommended.
I am making up water to do a water change. I will be sure it's matched.
And Steve, thank you for chiming in. No, placid is not good at all when it comes to wrasses. I am very worried.
Thanks again for your continued support. What are your thoughts about the remaining inhabitants of the DT? Seems like they are eating less. I think I need to treat everyone just to be safe.

Morgan,

Please describe the behavior and history of all fish in this tank. All are new or just one? If so, source? Time frame? Two months is the newest fish added? If so, how did you quarantine?

Morgan,

The Mandarin and YWG have been there two years. The yellow Coris and a Randall's Goby were added about two months ago. They both came from a reliable LFS. Both seemed healthy, both went into a quarantine tank for a month. They received no prophylactic treatment. They have been fine until now. Now today they are eating very little. The YCW is swimming about normally, but only picking at things, not gobbling food. Unusual for him. The Randall's top fin is at half mast, unusual for him. He came into position to be fed yesterday and today, then didn't eat anything. I am keeping a careful watch for white feces, which I have noticed from the sick McCoskers. The feces is not stringy, but still makes me think he has some internal parasites. Do you think this is likely? And if so, I assume the other fish are also infected.
But infected with what? The last thing into the tank was Bergia Nudibrachs two weeks ago. And honestly, as sick as the McCoskers is, I'm really not sure the Prazipro did anything. Should I bother to treat the other fish with Prazipro?

I'm going to suggest using metro, but get a second opinion first. I've seen it help fish that weren't eating. I'm assuming they have something going on internally.

Thanks, Blue. I agree with your thinking. Something seems to be going on internally.
I'm having some Metro 2nd Day Aired. I'll try that next I guess. I'm really at a loss. Am doing a large water change currently. I do it over the course of several hours, so as not to shock him. He has had five feedings today, if you can call them that. He sucks the end of the pipette to get Ova ( Nutramar) but if he gets too much, he sort of sneezes it back out. But if it's only a little bit at a time, he can handle it. I hope to get three or four more feedings into him before lights out.

Checked on him last night as he slept. He had a nice layer of Sleep Mucus. I take that as a positive sign, since his sleeping mucus has been nonexistent these last few days. Half way through the night, he righted himself, and slept right side up.

This morning he was on his side again. He was able to eat some ova from the pipette. He seemed to eat a bit more this time. Later he hid under a rock, right side up. I take that as another good sign. A few hours later I tried to give him a little more food but he swam away from the pipette every time.
Good sign that he has strength to swim but bad sign that he is refusing food.

Feces still white, still continuing to come out on a regular basis. Looking less clumpy and more like string now. Any thoughts Snorvich?

The Metronizadole will arrive tomorrow. I will try that next. Thank you for the idea, Bluecoyote.
The fish in the DT look better today. Fins up and they all ate. I still think the YCW is eating less, but maybe it's just my paranoia.

Wrasse update. Impossible to say if he's getting any better. He spends all his time on his side, and how many days has it been now? Five days. He managed to eat a bite of oyster. But refused to eat more than one bite. Seems pretty weak.

If it's spreading fish to fish its some kind of parasite/disease.it looks like a parasite. My Wrass had this once months ago and went to get treatment but it was gone! Mine, however, was always eating and active, but you could physically see where it bored into the side of its head. It just dissapeared and never bothered any of the fish or the wrass after that

A parasite bored into your wrasses head? That's terrible. It's good it didn't spread. I hope whatever is happening to my wrasse doesn't spread either. I still can't tell if it has.

Right now the wrasse is asleep in the corner of the hospital tank, his body supported by the corners of the tank, with his nose on the bottom. He is literally vertical, sleeping on his nose. If this fish lives it will be a miracle.

Began Metronizadole treatment; added it to tank and his food.
His color was dull this morning. Seems to have a secondary infection on his tail now.
He's on his side under the air stone.

At least he's hanging in there. Good luck with the little guy. Mine is on his last tank transfer and second round of prazi. Sulking again. This one is the sulkiest one yet, very nice colours on him though.

Thanks Sabo. He looked worse and worse today. His colors are blotchy and pale and his fins are floppy. Don't think he's going to make it. He is my favorite fish, ever.

Glad to hear yours is hanging in there. If he is the sulkiest one yet, I'll bet he ends up having the most personality once you move him to the DT. Continued luck with your sulky wrasse.

Wrasse update. Last night; extra thick sleep mucus and he slept upright.
This morning he's on his side again, but ate three helpings of ova.
this will be the second day of metro.

Thank you Steve. That means even more coming from you. Unfortunately this is wrassie's last night on planet earth. He ate 5 mL of ova for breakfast, which is more than he has eaten all week. His eyes are more alert than they've been all week too. But he has not moved all day, and he has refused food for 6 hours now. Am sure he'll be gone by tomorrow. I'll do an autopsy then and see if that yields any clues.

I've kept fish since the mid 70's and wrassie has been my favorite of all of them.
I'll really miss that little troublemaker.

i've been following this thread and hoping for the best. i'll be watching for an update this morning...

Did the wrasse make it? It sounded really bad, but still hoping for the best.

Unfortunately my male McCoskers died. It seemed like it was recovering from the bacterial skin infection but suddenly went downhill with the same symptoms you had. It happened within 1 day, so it was a surprise. My female seems fine, but I am feeding her Metro to be safe. I'd keep up with feeding all your fish the Metro soaked food for at least a week.

Two friends are accusing her of being a black widow as this is the second male to die in QT with her.
