URGENT!!!! Anemone stuck on rock......

I just aquired quite a bit of Live Rock and this RBTA was stuck to it.......foot anchored a good 3" into the crevis.

I am JUST setting up my tank, so I know the ammonia spike will kill it. I drove 30 miles home with little water in the bucket hoping he would just fall out looking for water...but to no avail.

His foot is stuck too far in for the ice cube trick. He is a VERY cool looking RBTA and I don't want to lose him.

I have him back in the water ATM at 1.026 SG and temp sitting at 79. I am afraid to check ammonia for fear of the end!

PLEASE help me out!!! I have a stable tank awaiting his arrival as soon as he comes out..........sadly, the rock is too large to fit into the stable tank

freestylefly on Yahoo messenger.....otherwise I will constantly refresh this thread

Try putting a powerhead directly at him.

Tried, just resorts back into the hole in the rock :(

Any luck with the powerhead? Anyway to break the part of the rock with the anemone on it to fit in your other tank?

try trading the piece of LR with someone or selling it?

Tried that......

The stable tank is a friends local to me which cannot fit the piece of rock I have.

Secondly, I called all my local reefers and it must be the weekend to be out of town, as none of them are within 50 miles of their homes

I may have to resort to that.......just waiting for one phone call back before I smash apart a 30# rock (that has a PERFECT place in my tank as-is)......

Break the rock to save the RBTA.
You can always cement or Aquamend the rock back together later and no one will notice!

Try holding the rock out of the water until he lets go. I did that with a nem today I was giving to a friend. Took a while though, but it seemed unharmed.

*Flame suit on*

Where did you get the rock? If it was from an established tank, then the ammonia spike won't last long. In this case I would do daily water changes and try to keep the anemone. That is just me though.

If it is freshly imported rock, then I would break the rock with a chisel, and get the anemone to an established system.

If you could reach the foo i have used ice cubes in a zip lock bag! But i know that you cant reach the foot. Ill be awating your call later today! Good Luck! C

He hung for a good 45 minutes out of water and would still not let go!

The rock is 125# of cured (3 year tank) going into a fresh 60g with 20g sump.

He is looking good this morning though. Ammonia is steady and pH is steady.......

Never the less, I will be smashing the rock shortly and taking it over to Charlie's (above poster) just so I know for DANG sure that he is doing well.

Thanks for all the help guys!

If the rock is three years cured, why get rid of the anemone at all??? The stess of ice cubes, no water for 45 min....lol, being on a rock that is smashed, and moving tanks will be greater than the stress from a cycle from moving cured rock.

Whyamisofly when you posted this on the local forum someone offered to let you keep the rock in their stable tank. Several Lfs are open too as a matter of fact I don't think any are closed on the weekend. Try Don's its right by you or Animal attraction.

The person that offered up a spot in their tank locally was an hour and a half drive one way......with gas prices the way they are, it would be cheaper for me to buy a new nem if this one would so happen to die.

When I mentioned the LFS's were closed, I was talking about it being 8pm on a Saturday night.......

BTW, I would take ANY risk before stepping foot back into Animal Attractions (Thumbs down)....

I have a new home for him as of this afternoon, so everything is good now.

Thanks again for everyones help.
