URGENT HELP for haddoni

my new haddoni has a very similar behavior. part of its stomach was protruding and it would touch different parts of its tentacles to it. once the lights came on though, it quickly pulled its stomach back inside the mouth. do you all think it may be suspension feeding at night?

Even though saddles naturally use haddoni's as hosts, they are also notorious for killing those 'nems in captivity.

Keep an eye on that saddleback as it may be divebombing the 'nems mouth at night.

Oh, I hope not. The saddleback is kind of skittish, so if it looks to be causing trouble, I just have to approach the tank! I have also never seen it divebomb the mouth. It tends to either lay in the anemone at night (during the day he swims around the rockwork) or he will hide behind it and stick his out through the folds.

I did add phytoplankton to the tank last night and then the mouth was open really wide (well really not the mouth, more the protruding stomach). Actually, now that I watch him for a few minutes, that is exactly what he does. The anemone will expand his stomach out through his mouth (just 2 bubbles) and then touch the stomach with each of his folds/tentacles. Perhaps, this is some form of filter feeding as he will not eat the silverside (at least just yet).

You need to cut that silverside down to 1/4" pieces, especially if you think your nem is unhealthy. Make it as easy as possible for him to eat it.

Oh, I did not know that they could negotiate between the sizes that I give him. I thought that they would eat any size. Interesting, I will try to feed him with a smaller piece tomorrow.

They might eat any size, but it will be much, much easier for it to eat and digest the smaller pieces. Good luck!

QUIT TOUCHING IT AND TRYING TO FEED IT. You may very well be killing an animal that could be hundreds of years old do you realize that? I'm sorry but you need to leave it alone and let it settle.
